Lehengas and cocktails on Easter Sunday
As most people looked to relax during the 4 day Easter break, some of us were preparing for the grand wedding celebrations for Tina and Jason at the home of the 2010 Ryder Cup Set and setting for the 2014 NATO meeting. In 2,000 acres of rolling Welsh countryside in the beautiful Usk Valley lies The Celtic Manor Resort; offering luxury on a grand scale with all the facilities and amenities to host the grandest of events; and this Easter weekend they were host to a Big, Fat, Indian wedding. The Celtic Manor has an instant impact as you drive into Newport, seeing it sitting majestically over you on top of a hill as you drive in on the M4.
Setting out from London in the early hours on Sunday morning the team set out West on our first trip to Wales, allowing the addition of a pin on our Gola Shack Tracker. Along with getting to Wales the team from Ice Gola Shack had a new challenge of providing our delicious ice golas for both the wedding and the reception party and making both unique and memorable in their own ways.
Managed by Clay Oven Banqueting, some of the top Asian wedding suppliers from up and down the UK had been brought in. The job of setting the theme for the day, helping Tina and Jason realise their dreams were Swarg Designer Weddings. Clay Oven ensured all guests left with satisfied stomachs with two delicious menus a traditional Gujarati lunch in the afternoon followed by modern delights in the evening. After a lovely welcome with refreshments, the guests were able to take selfies in a traditional Indian rickshaw provided by The Rickshaw Wallah, while being entertained by the fantastic Ritzy Music. And the amazing day was beautifully captured by Samsara Studio.
While the golas would go down spectacularly well both times, we wanted to stick to our motto of offering our clients new and refreshing ideas. In the afternoon we introduced Tina and Jason’s guests to our traditional Ice Golas which have been a massive crowd favourite. Guests of all ages loved the concept, and were thrilled to be able to enjoy this long sought after treat; returning and trying out the range of flavours available on the day.
In the evening Ice Gola Shack treated guests, taking advantage to what have an abundance of, – ice slush. Creating holiday inspired cocktail slushes to be provided alongside our alcoholic cocktail golas, all served from polished coconut shells.. It made for an exotic delight and a relief from the sunny afternoon in the hills of Newport. Using vodka and variety of rum we were able to recreate classics such as pina colada, daquiris and a variety of punches resulting in some very satisfied guests.
